License Activation
CookieRay Pro features unlock after you activate a license. You do this from the CookieRay admin, not from the WordPress Plugins screen.
Activate your license
- Make sure the free CookieRay plugin and the CookieRay Pro add-on are both installed and active.
- In the WordPress admin, open the License screen under CookieRay. Until a license is active, that menu item is labeled Upgrade to Pro. After you activate the add-on, WordPress also takes you there automatically.
- Enter your License Key.
- Enter the Email Address you used at purchase.
- Click Activate License.
A green “License activated successfully.” message confirms it worked. If activation fails, the admin shows the error returned by the license check.
What the License page shows
After activation, the page shows License Active along with:
- The License Key, partially masked
- Expires — the license expiry date
- Support Until — the end of the support period
Deactivate a license
Click Deactivate License on the same page. This releases the license and clears the saved key from the site. Use it before moving CookieRay Pro to another site.
When a license isn’t active
Pro panels are locked and show messages such as “A Pro license is required… Upgrade or reactivate Pro to unlock this feature.” The rest of CookieRay — banner, blocking, scanner, inventory and logs — continues to work as the free plugin.
While the license isn’t valid, the Pro features also stop running on your site: geo targeting rules, integration tags, the trust badge and scheduled scans. Custom CSS you already saved keeps applying, but you can’t change it. See Pro troubleshooting.
Troubleshooting activation
- The License page shows an upgrade prompt instead of a key field. The Pro add-on isn’t active. Activate it under Plugins.
- The Activate License button is disabled. Both the key and the email must be filled in.
- Activation fails. Check that the key and the purchase email match exactly, then try again. If it still fails, contact us with the message shown.
