Installation

Installing CookieRay takes only a few minutes. This page covers the requirements, the two ways to install the plugin, and what happens the first time you activate it.

Requirements

Before you install CookieRay, make sure your environment meets these minimums:

• WordPress 6.2 or newer
• PHP 7.4 or newer

Install method 1: Upload manually

If you have the plugin files, you can install CookieRay by copying them into your plugins directory:

1. Upload the cookieray folder to your site’s /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
2. Make sure the full folder is in place at /wp-content/plugins/cookieray/.

Install method 2: From the WordPress plugin directory

You can also install CookieRay directly from inside WordPress:

1. In the WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New.
2. Search for CookieRay.
3. Click Install Now.

Activation

However you installed it, the final step is the same:

1. Go to Plugins in the WordPress admin menu.
2. Find CookieRay in the list.
3. Click Activate.

First-run dashboard redirect

On first activation, CookieRay automatically redirects you to its Dashboard. This is your starting point.

From there, follow the dashboard checklist to finish setup. The next page, the quick start, walks you through those steps in order.

Note: the consent banner is off by default, so nothing changes on your live site until you customize and enable it.
